Job Title: Massage Therapist

Location: Shepherd’s Run, Body + Mind

Position Type: Independent Contractor, Part-time

As a Massage Therapist, you will use your expertise in various massage techniques to help clients relax, reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, and promote overall well-being. Your role will involve assessing clients' needs, tailoring treatments to their specific conditions, and delivering exceptional care to enhance their physical and emotional health.

Responsibilities:
1. Client Assessment and Treatment Planning:
  • Conduct thorough and confidential assessments of clients' medical histories, conditions, and specific concerns to determine appropriate massage techniques and treatment plan utilizing their intake form.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their expectations, goals, and any areas of discomfort or pain.
  • Develop personalized treatment based on client assessments and preferences.
2. Massage Therapy Techniques:
  • Administer a variety of massage techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and aromatherapy massages, among others, based on client needs and preferences.
  • Apply appropriate pressure, strokes, and movements to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.
  • Utilize additional techniques such as stretching, myofascial release, or trigger point therapy as necessary to address specific conditions.
  • Ensure client comfort and maintain professional boundaries throughout the massage session.
3 Professional Communication and Client Care:
  • Establish rapport and build trust with clients through effective communication and active listening.
  • Explain procedures, techniques, and potential benefits or outcomes of massage therapy to clients.
  • Provide guidance on post-massage self-care practices, including hydration, stretching exercises, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle modifications.
4. Health and Safety:
  • Adhere to professional ethics, standards, and hygiene practices, including proper hand hygiene, draping techniques, and clean work environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by assessing contraindications and adapting treatments accordingly.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, research, and best practices related to massage therapy.
  • Follow applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to massage therapy.
5. Administrative and Professional Development:
  • Manage appointment schedules, once therapist is committed to a time slot, they are responsible for performing the massages unless coverage can be found.
  • Collaborate with the team to create a supportive and professional work environment.
  • Arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of the treatment to ensure that the room is ready.
  • Ensure that treatment rooms and back of house spaces are kept clean.
  • Set-up, clean and breakdown treatment rooms before and after each treatment
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through workshops, seminars, and continuing education to enhance skills and stay current in the eld.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a massage therapy program from an accredited school or institution.
  • Hold an Active Rhode Island Board of Massage Therapy license with the Rhode Island Department of Health
  • Trained in Prenatal massage.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in various massage techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine passion for helping others.
  • Ability to adapt massage techniques to address specific client needs and conditions.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform massage therapy sessions.
  • Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and common musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Carry professional liability insurance with our company named as additionally insured.
