Program Assistant, Upward Bound Program

Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Program Assistant, Upward Bound Program. This is a Temporary, Renewable contingent upon funding, full-time, calendar year position.

The individual will assist the project director with the day-to-day administration of student programming, recordkeeping, and communication with families, students and partner in high schools. Responsible for maintaining all program databases and online application systems, managing, program inventory and technology, as well as the collection, maintenance and reporting of student, program, and financial data for the TRIO Upward Bound Program in the Center for Scholar Development.

The Center for Scholar Development is the home to the four campus TRIO programs, Upward Bound, Student Support Services-regular, Student Support Services-STEM, and the McNair Scholars, as well as the college Preparatory Enrollment Program. The mission of the CSD department is support educational pathways in an affirming environment for first generation schools in their pursuit of post-secondary success. 

Required qualifications:                                                                                                                                                          
-High school diploma and (6) years of experience in a fast-paced office OR Associate’s degree in a related field and (3) years of experience in a fast-paced office OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with (2) years of experience in a fast-paced office.                                                                                                                                                                
-Experience working with data and using Microsoft Excel and/or databases                                                                
-Working knowledge of PC Software for data management.                                                                                            
-Strong technological and data management skills                                                                                                             
-Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:                                                                                                                                                           
-A minimum of two years’ working with data and/or software systems.                                                                      
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income, first-generation students.                                                                   -Bilingual
