What You Will Do
Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, The Director of HR will play a key role in developing and implementing the plan to merge two exceptional public media entities, helping to shape an engaged and supportive employee culture and create an innovative and dynamic 21st century public media institution.
They will lead the HR function and work collaboratively across the organization to plan, direct, and coordinate all human resources initiatives. Working closely with the team, the Director of Human Resources will develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and initiatives including talent management, succession planning, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, organizational development, change management, performance, training and development. They will help lead the strategy and activities to develop and foster a positive, inclusive organizational culture reflective of the mission, vision and values of the new public media entity to ensure staff receive the guidance and support needed to perform to their potential.
What We Are Looking For
Our ideal candidate is a team player—a trusted leader who collaborates with others, proactive and results-oriented. A true HR generalist, with experience dealing with the full scope of HR matters in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The HR Director has a solid knowledge of current HR practices and employment laws, is hands-on and capable of producing work with limited staff. They will have 10+ years of HR experience, with several years in a senior HR role leading a team and a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience. HR or Diversity certification or/and a Master’s degree is a plus. Our HR leader is an experienced coach and facilitator, with superb interpersonal, communication and influencing skills who is able to bring people together around a shared mission, vision and values. They must be committed to our mission, the public we serve and the employees who deliver our services.
