The Educational Studies Department at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track role for the position of Assistant Professor, Educational Studies – World Language Education.
We seek a dynamic candidate who can help provide leadership to the program in World Languages Education and a commitment for developing students and teachers to their fullest potential.
Rhode Island College is a regional comprehensive public college, serving approximately 6,400 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students through its five schools: The Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development, the School of Business, the School of Nursing and the School of Social Work. Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is the state’s first public institution of higher education. The College is located on a beautiful 180-acre suburban campus in the vibrant city of Providence, and has satellite locations at the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence’s Innovation District and the Rhode Island College Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls.
Required qualifications:
- Doctorate in Language Education and Multilingualism, World Languages Education, Educational Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition or a related field. (ABD with completion by start date).
- Teaching multilingual learners and experience teaching second and foreign languages at the post-secondary level.
- Experience teaching world language pedagogy at the post-secondary level.
- Supervising pre-service teachers in field experiences and collaborating with local schools.
- Leading professional development activities for language education.
- Developing accreditation reports for state and/or national organizations.
