Digital Content Strategist

Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Digital Content Strategist. This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.

The Web Communications team, as part of the Office of Communications and Marketing, creates web content in service of the institution's mission and strategic plan. We partner with the college's offices, departments, divisions, and schools to ensure that web content is in service of the audience and goals defined by the institution's mission.

This team ensures that all work done on the ric.edu domain serves the intended audience and site goals, as set by the institution. In doing so, we leverage web best practices regarding user experience, user interface, search engine optimization, and accessibility. We are committed to implementing practices and standards as defined by level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years' experience in digital content creation
  • Demonstrated experience in web writing and interactive content development 
  • Demonstrated experience with web Content Management Systems, HTML, CSS,
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Siteimprove (or similar QA platform), Google Analytics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mobile-first and responsive design principles
  • Demonstrated experience in information architecture and user experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written communications skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations
