Director, Career and Life Design

Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Director, Career and Life Design. This is full-time, calendar year, continuing position.    
   
The Director of Career and Life Design provides leadership for initiating, implementing, and coordinating career planning/placement services for students and alumni; overseeing experiential education programs; and administering undergraduate on-campus student employment. The Director’s duties include policy and program development and evaluation; planning and budgeting; staff recruitment, development, supervision and evaluation; liaison with a variety of constituents, both on and off campus.

The Career Development Center provides a range of services for students and alumni that may be helpful at any point of the career decision-making or job search process. The Career Development Center facilitates programs, initiatives and services that support career readiness, career exploration, internship engagement, student employment and employer relations. The office hosts several targeted job and internship career fairs, schedules on-campus interviews with prospective employers, sponsors career programs, and conducts workshops on topics such as job searches, resume writing, and interviewing. The Career Development Center also provides students with assistance with graduate studies program search and personal statements. The College’s student employment program that offers career-related on-campus opportunities is also administered by the Center.
 
Required qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, higher education administration and college student personnel administration or other appropriate field.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and fully leverage cross-functional teams of colleagues and academic/administrative leaders to develop policies and coordinate programming.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of independence in an agile environment, prioritize assignments and manage time and ambiguity effectively.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish (fluent in speaking and writing).

Proposed starting salary: $84,000-88,000
